Peppler’s Classroom Blog

How to Use This Blog

For students:

If you miss class, check this blog first for what you missed. I’ll try to tell you what happened in class overall, but you’ll still need to do a little work.

Look at any homework assignment in the entry for the day you missed. If any handouts were distributed, you can check the Wiki for a copy. (Look for the Wiki box on the right-hand side of this blog, toward the bottom.) If I can’t post the document online (for copyright reasons), you’ll be able to find a copy in the classroom file box.

You may need to get notes, the DOL corrections, the quote, and the idiom from a trusted classmate. If you still have questions about what you missed, then please come and ask me at a convenient time. (Warning: the first thing I will ask you is Did you check the blog?)
It is your responsibility to find out what you missed. It is also your responsibility to understand the classroom policies regarding absences, make-up work, and late work.

For parents:

Please feel free to check this blog often to keep up-to-date with classroom happenings. It will be part journal and part schedule. I will try to post the morning’s event (all my English 9 classes are in the morning) by noon. Occasionally, this will be impossible so please be patient.

While I will do my best to keep ParentConnect updated on a fairly regular basis, it is not a reliable source of work that your son or daughter is missing or assignments, test, or project due dates. By the time they are posted, it’s too late to do much about them. I hope this blog will serve that purpose much better.

    Hi,

I am a middle school reading teacher for students that are two or more years below grade level. I am attempting to put together a blog and wiki that will allow them to become more interactive with what we are doing in class; additionally, I would like the parents to have a better web resource than what the district is supplying. I stumbled across your site and am quite impressed — it has all of the items I would like to see on mine. Would you mind sharing some of the wisdom you have learned when you get a chance — so I don’t spend my time running in circles! Thanks!!

    Peter Lane
