Peppler’s Classroom Blog

Day 2

September 5, 2007 · No Comments

A little more business today.  Students turned in their Student Information Sheet and the signed part of the syllabus.  Today, I also handed out a copy of the Academic Honesty policy, which includes a line for a parent signature. (Sorry, parents, for all the paperwork.  If it’s any consolation, my kindergartener brought home an entire folder full of forms to fill out!)

Reminders:

  • Letter of Introduction due tomorrow (Sept. 6)
  • Academic Honesty form due tomorrow, too.
  • Binder materials needed by Friday.

Today, I also introduced this blog and the class wiki.  I stressed the need for personal responsibility, and these tools can help students keep on top of those responsibilities.
While reviewing the class expectations, I also explained my one class rule: “You can do whatever you want as long as it doesn’t cause a problem for anyone else.”  I think that will give them a clear direction for good decision-making skills much more than a long list of arbitrary rules to remember.
