Peppler’s Classroom Blog

One down…

September 4, 2007 · No Comments

Despite the heat in my classroom (and throughout most of the building), I felt it was a good first day.  I am very excited about getting to know this new group of students.  I can’t wait to hear their stories, watch them grow and stretch themselves past existing boundaries, and even struggle a little as they learn to navigate their world.

Today, I introduced myself to the class, had them make nameplates (so I can learn their names more quickly) and handed out the syllabus.  The syllabus was reading homework and they are to come with questions tomorrow, as well as the signed cut-off portion from the last page of the syllabus.  They also received a Student Information Sheet that I need back tomorrow.  Finally, I asked them to begin introducing themselves to me by writing a Letter of Introduction, which is due Thursday.

The materials for their binders (3-ring binder, paper, and dividers) need to be brought in on Friday, as we will be assembling them.  I’ll explain the pieces of the binder, what to label the sections, how we’ll be using them, etc.

Note to parents: I am working on the “subscribe by email” service in the right column.  Be patient as I work the kinks out a little.
